Points to Consider

Builders often require that you use their approved contracts instead of the standard contracts that are meant to protect the consumer.  These contracts favor the builder.  Build times can be around 8-14 months.  Sometimes the completion time gets delayed due to on availability of services, products or permitting.  When a builder advertises a base price it is just that…..a starting point!  Some of the added expenses can include:

  • Lot premiums or cost of the land
  • Construction finishes (adding bedrooms, patio extension, loft area, etc.)
  • Design finishes (granite, flooring, appliances, hardware etc.)
  • Landscaping
